Our goal at CDL is that all dancers have a positive learning experience from competitions, gain performance skills and always do their own personal best.

Below are some details to assist you in making an informed decision about your child’s competitive dance experience this upcoming year.

2019/20 Competition Program Info

*C ~ Competitive Dancers
Competitive classes are performance based classes offered in the genres of Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop and Acro. Classes are expected to compete in up to 3 competitions per dance season. Classes also participate at our studio held competition ConfiDANCE! and at our year end show.

To ensure our dancers are developing to a Pre-Professional standard, dancers are required to enroll in additional performance and accelerate classes. Commitment to required classes is essential for achievement of training goals.

Dancers registered in the Accelerate classes as well as the corresponding performance/competitive class will receive $100 off the Accelerate Fee.

Dancers wanting to compete in the 2020/21 dance season are required to register in a minimum of 1 Summer Intensive Week.

Additional Competition Class Fees
Competition Classes will compete in up to 4 competitions per year. Competition Entry Fees will be invoiced once entries are confirmed with the competition organizers and are due to CDL by February 9, 2020.  Dancers with outstanding entry fees at this date may be withdrawn from ConfiDANCE!

Festival dancers are recommended to enroll in the DDR 2019 Intensive to help with competition readiness

Dancers wanting to compete in the 2020/2021 dance season are required to register in a minimum of 1 Summer Intensive Week

Festival Dancers are HIGHLY encouraged to commit to Accelerate classes, especially if the dancer’s goal is to be competitive in the following season.  Accelerate classes may be added in January 2020 if competing is desired for 2020/21

A minimum of 1 Accelerate or Performance class is recommended.

Additional Festival Class Fees

Solos & Duets

Solo Choreography ~ $375 per dancer
4 hours with a choreographer
Dancers will be given solo music and  are responsible to have their music at independent rehearsals and competitions
5 hours studio use for independent studio rehearsal time (30 or 60 minute blocks). Additional studio time cards may be booked through the studio
Ordered costumes will be billed once shipping expenses have been confirmed, typically at the end of the season.  Ordered costumes range from $75 to $150.  Rented costumes are $45
Competition entry fees not included ~  $50-$80 per solo, per competition
Duet Choreography (2 dancers) ~ $200 per dancer

Accelerate Program

 *Minimum requirement of 7 years old

*Primary 2 through Senior levels 

Accelerate Ballet Technique
Accelerate Ballet Technique classes are Non-Performance classes being offered as a training supplement for dancers, gymnasts,  figure skaters, skippers and other athletes who would benefit from the conditioning of Ballet Technique.
Dancers in the Accelerate Program may be eligible to participate in ballet exams in the Cecchetti Sllyabus or the Edmonton School of Ballet’s Junior Grades and Progressions Classical Ballet Syllabus.  
*Accelerate Ballet Levels are dependant on the last exam successfully completed, please contact the studio for the appropriate level for your child prior to registering*

Accelerate Jazz Technique
A program designed for dancers wanting to compete next dance season AND dancers currently enrolled in competitive Jazz and Lyrical classes.  Dancers who need to further develop technique or performance skills are encouraged to take this advanced program. Emphasis on Jumps, Turns and foundational Jazz steps and theory

Connectivity Dance Company

*Minimum 16 dancers.

Up to 4 Large Group Dances

Connectivity Dance Company – CDLC
Competitive Dancers who wish to increase their performance experience may audition for THE COMPANY.  Dancers who display strong technique, self-motivation and dedication are welcomed to try out for this accelerated performance program.  Dancers must meet the Competitive Cube requirements to be eligible to audition.

Company Members will learn choreography for up to 4 additional large group dances in Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Variety.  2 hours of choreography each week from September to December. Scheduled rehearsals on select Saturdays between January and May.

Dancers considering auditioning for the Company are recommended to attend a minimum of 1 week intensive training  ~ Summer of Dance in July OR Just Dance in August, to help maintain technique over the summer months

Competition Entry Fees are due to CDL by FEBRUARY 1, 2020.  Entry fees are approximately $40-$60 per dancer, per large group dance, per competition
We are planning to compete in the same 4 local competitions this coming season as the competitive classes. 

Weekly Saturday Practices September through December.  Rotating Saturday Schedule January to May

Company Fees
CDLC Member fee $100
Choreography Fee $100 per dance/genre

Pricing for the Company for the 2019/20 season has been set at $100 per dancer plus an additional $100 per dance and will require fund-raising to help cover additional costs of extended training, costumes and competition fees.

Company Auditions
August 21 ~ 5:00 pm to 8: 00 pm & September 21 ~ 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Dancers are to wear a black body suit and black shorts to the audition.  Tights may be worn (beige or pink are acceptable) Hair should be pulled back into bun and dancers completely ready to dance by 5:00pm
Arrival for the audition begins at 4:30pm
Dancers may sign-in at the front desk upon arrival to receive their audition number.
After signing in, dancers may warm-up for the audition
Dancers will learn 1 Modern dance combination during the first half  and 1 Variety or Jazz dance combination during the second half.  Dancers may also be asked to improvise a solo.
Dancers will be placed into audition groups to perform each combination.  Each group will be called in to perform the combination in front of the choreographers/adjudicators
Dancers may be given up to 3 opportunities to perform each combination, time pending.
Acceptance for dancers will be given at the end of the audition.
Please note that a minimum of 16 dancers is required per dance for the CDLC this season
Dancers will be auditioning to potentially perform in 4 Large Croup choreographies:
Ballet, Jazz ,Modern and Variety / Musical Theatre

Connectivity Crew

*ages 8 & up

Community Performance Team

Connectivity Crew
Dancers who have a strong desire to perform and love to be in the spotlight may join the Connectivity Crew Community Performance Team.
Dancers as young as 8 years may join this team.
Dancers must be enrolled in a full year performance class and maintain a high level of commitment for rehearsal and performance schedules.
Involvement in performances and demonstration classes at various community events in Leduc and area throughout the year.
 Dancers are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism as ambassadors of the dance school.
